Five things you didn’t know about Liz
01.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
As a child, I was drawn towards Architecture and Teaching. I often wonder what would have happened if I wasn’t prevented from attending DT classes as the only female, and warned against teaching as there were too many applicants and not enough roles! How times change. As someone who is open to new opportunities I am very happy with the way things turned out.
02.
What’s the most unusual item on your desk?
My desk tends to be a place of calm and organisation so I would say the most unusual item in my office is an indoor bike. The idea is I can exercise while keeping up with podcasts, ted talks and webinars.
03.
Who are your personal heroes and why?
My fabulous grandmother who was left as a single parent to 3 children in WW2 while juggling factory work and a war. She was a strong, kind and perceptive woman with a twinkle in her eyes and a big beautiful smile. My 3.5 year old grandson is fast becoming my other hero. His curiosity, energy and approach to life are a constant source of inspiration.
04.
Who would play you in the movie version of your life?
According to AI, Emma Thompson would be a good representation of my personality which apparently combines kindness, depth, reflectivity and humour. I am partial to a bit of fancy dress (at running events & festivals) and she would definitely embrace that.
05.
If you were an animal what would you be and why?
As someone who enjoys socialising with our extended family and longstanding friends, I think I would be an Elephant. I also like the idea that they play a critical role in maintaining the structure of their ‘ecological’ community.
